What I’m Reading in December

I think the holidays are maybe just overwhelming to me. After reading Just Open the Door and thinking through the difference between hospitality and entertaining, I feel that the entertaining portion of the holidays is what drains me and keeps me from really enjoying them and truly celebrating them.

Holidays are meant to be more than chaos with glimpses of grace they are meant to draw us closer to God and one another, but often life is so busy that setting a game plan just doesn’t happen.

I frequently have friends ask me what I’m reading or what I recommend, so hopefully, these posts are helpful in giving you some ideas. If there’s a certain topic you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll see if I can direct you to a book. 🙂

Being a life-long learner and bookwormish means I read some pretty random things sometimes. I mean, if I run out of stuff, I read the backs of cereal boxes or car magazines. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if it is stuff I agree with or not. I really think we can learn something from everything.

Here’s my *December Book:

I did a pre-read of this book when I first got it but I love how Becky challenges readers to really think about how our own families want to prioritize for each holiday. That will guide us in what we will say yes or no to and it will help everyone to enjoy the holidays more…as we should! She also mentions Scriptures, budgeting, and lots of other practical ideas that we can choose to incorporate into our holidays…or not! 🙂
