What I’m Reading in August

I read Loving My Actual Life in 2017 and really enjoy reflecting on different areas of my life. I think we sometimes rush through life without thinking about the things we are doing. We go from one thing to another. There is no better time than now to slow down to treasure whoever has been put in our lives.

Jesus was 100 percent clear: love God, love others. May we do so in a way that is honoring to both our Creator and those he created, with respect for all involved and dignity in every interaction. May our motives be genuinely connected to our belief that God loves people and wants us to flourish.

I frequently have friends ask me what I’m reading or what I recommend, so hopefully, these posts are helpful in giving you some ideas. If there’s a certain topic you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll see if I can direct you to a book. 🙂

Being a life-long learner and bookwormish means I read some pretty random things sometimes. I mean, if I run out of stuff, I read the backs of cereal boxes or car magazines. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if it is stuff I agree with or not. I really think we can learn something from everything.

Here’s my *August Book:

If you’ve been around even for a minute, you’ll know that I’m a homebody…apparently with many issues. While it was never a challenge to reach out to do community service and even being involved in change in our global community, it can be intimidating to put ourselves out there. There have been plenty of times when I’ve offered help for it to be not well-received or to have offended or the help offered was not what was expected.

Someone recently mentioned that they had wanted to say hi and get to know a neighbor but many times it seemed like the neighbor didn’t even want to acknowledge them. Boy, do I know about that! As you see, I can probably learn a few things from this book. I’m looking forward to learning more and doing better.
