Uncluttered Reflections (week 7)

Hi! I am sharing weekly-ish how things are going in my decluttering journey these next two-ish months as I go through a clutter course. (I’ll share my thoughts after I’m done with the whole course.) Thanks for hanging out and reading my posts. I’d love to know how you’re doing and if you have any tips…about anything really!

Kids’ Stuff (+ Living Room)

This week’s focus for the course was family stuff. Well, I’m not going to declutter the husband’s stuff so I went with helping the girls with some of their spaces as well as what I had originally planned for the month – living room areas. The girls have a lot more than I’d like for them to keep since I know they don’t use everything but it’s not a battle I choose to fight as long as they know where their stuff is and no one gets hurt. 😛 There was more tidying than decluttering…keep scrolling to read my lessons learned.

[repost from an earlier week] As you can see, it’s not perfect, it’s not all decluttered or even uncluttered, and it’s definitely not clean or organized. Because of my season of life, I don’t really want to spend time cleaning and organizing clutter that may or may not stay in our home AND my time and money are limited so I’m okay with working on small areas for short amounts of time for now. It’s slow progress but it’s progress and I’m happy with forward movement. Some is better than none. 👊

Lessons Learned

This week I learned that as we go through areas we’ve decluttered before, it a lot easier to make quicker decisions. We are moving into more of a maintenance mode since most of what we don’t want is not there anymore.

There are a number of areas we have been avoiding because they are bigger tasks but now that most of our general living spaces that we used more often are mostly cleared, it makes things seem more doable and manageable.

When things have their place, it is much easier to see what needs to stay or go. It is easier to find things. It is easier to eventually organize. 😊

Are you on any decluttering journey? What’s it been like? What are you learning?
