What I’m Reading in April

From the book description…which explains so much about who I am. I don’t know that anyone has ever said I was too sensitive in regards to anything because I don’t take offense too much, or even if I do, it doesn’t last long. But I do smell all the smells and hear all the songs and see all the pieces of everything, which makes it a challenge to handle too much, or even if I do, to have to hide away afterwards.

Perhaps you’re bothered by bright lights or you struggle to tune out background noise. Maybe you’re quick to notice the details others miss or you need more time to process events. You may feel emotions deeply and hear, “You’re just too sensitive.”

But what if you learned you’re not “too sensitive”? What if your sensitivity is part of your design and comes with corresponding strengths?

One in five people are HSPs—Highly Sensitive Persons—with the genetic trait of sensory sensitivity. As an HSP, you are not fragile or frail. You can be a strong friend in relationships, strong partner in business, and strong member of your community.

I frequently have friends ask me what I’m reading or what I recommend, so hopefully, these posts are helpful in giving you some ideas. If there’s a certain topic you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll see if I can direct you to a book. 🙂

Being a life-long learner and bookwormish means I read some pretty random things sometimes. I mean, if I run out of stuff, I read the backs of cereal boxes or car magazines. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if it is stuff I agree with or not. I really think we can learn something from everything.

Here’s my April Book:

I took one of those assessment once about being a high sensitive person and it mostly describes me. Other than that, I haven’t read much more about it. I love learning about these things but have never allowed it to box me in but to be more sensitive (puns always intended) to why I may react the way I do or to be aware of how to avoid certain situations that may make it difficult for me to be of any use. I’m looking forward to what this book has to say about being sensitive AND strong, because I can be fairly opinionated as I process information and data, as people who know me can tell you. But I think I also know when to share my piece of mind and when not to. 😉
