The Declutter Experience

A LOOK BACK

In January, I hosted The Great Declutter in a private Facebook group. This was a small group of members who committed to checking in every week with their goals and every day with their progress. Not only did we declutter so much, I think we all learned some valuable lessons about decluttering as well as start to make some heart changes moving forward in what we keep in our homes, in addition to how we will shop/consume in the future.

In February, I hosted a Declutter This or That in a Facebook Event. This was open to anyone who wanted some quick wins of areas that may be overlooked in other decluttering/cleaning/organizing checklists. We started out strong but because of how Events are set up, it was not conducive to doing check-ins. Even I fell off the wagon, not necessarily on decluttering but on checking in. We did make a small dent in our piles, but probably not as much as we would have liked…BUT we press on!

A LOOK AHEAD

For March, I will be hosting The Declutter Experience in a private Facebook group. All are welcome no matter where you are in your decluttering journey. I will leave the group open until 3/5 for friends to join. This will be like The Great Declutter in that it will follow the structure of posting with goals and progress. There will be less accountability on my part, but I hope each of you will choose a buddy to encourage you and cheer you on through the process. This will be like Declutter This or That in that there will be no need to sign up. However, I do hope everyone will commit to daily check-ins (even if it’s just to like other’s comments/updated progress) to keep each other encouraged.

DAILY

⭐️ AT THE START OF THE DAY, I will post daily and members will comment using this Mad Lib-style prompt below. Bonus points for sharing photos.
⭐ AT THE END OF THE DAY, please check in to give an update on how things went.

______ (day/time of day) I will declutter ___ (space) for ___ (time).
i.e. While I watch Wheel of Fortune I will declutter the papers in two file folders for 15 minutes.
i.e. After lunch around 12:30 pm, I will declutter the top right drawer of my desk for 10 minutes.

WEEKLY

⭐ AT THE START OF THE WEEK, we will share our goal.
⭐ AT THE END OF THE WEEK, we will share what we have learned.

Where are you in your decluttering journey? Do you have any decluttering tips or questions?

AN INVITATION

I will have our March group open until 3/5 (depending on the interest, I may have to limit spots available…I really want the group to serve its members). In April, I will have The Great Declutter group open once again with limited spots.
