May Recap

I haven’t done one of these recaps in a long time, and I miss reviewing the month like this and reflecting on what happened.

May seems to automatically be a full month because it’s the end of school and school-year extracurriculars. We took things a week at a time and survived!

We kicked off the month with an EEG appointment. It continues to be a normal that still surprises us. We have some other delayed appointments coming up this year because with all the house stuff, it’s been hard to add extras like that to our plate. Remember to make your appointments – regular annual check-up, eye, gyn, derm, dental, and any other specialists you need to see.

The teen wrapped up the last school assessments for the year. It’s been interesting to hear people’s opinions of these tests in the news. There was the last science lab of high school because she’s not taking a science class next school year. We dropped off textbooks from this school year and picked up textbooks for next school year. Finals were taken. She had her last library volunteer opportunity for the year. Last club meetings are sad as they say goodbye to seniors and vote in new officers.

Of course, choir tech rehearsals seem to be at the same time as finals every year. It was so fun to watch the concert. Each of the three performing choirs have their own vibe, and the combined community choir at the end that also included some choristers’ parents was fantastic! The husband joined in this time.

We celebrated two birthdays this month. My dad got a dim sum birthday brunch at the newly renovated Pearl Bay Tea House. Everything was super yummy and we beat the lunch crowd. We combined E’s birthday with Mother’s Day. In-n-Out Burger for lunch and Nothing Bundt Cakes Bundtinis for dessert with the husband’s side of the family. Then, we had Rigatoni’s Fresh Italian Grill for dinner and Trader Joe’s Sea Salt Brownie Bites and Brookies for dessert.

Somewhere in there, we went to my nephew’s preschool graduation. How did it happen so quickly?! The ceremony was not as short as I thought it would be but I was very impressed that the kids learned eight songs to perform. They also had hand motions and everything!

In the midst of all of that, we had various deliveries of things to our house as the remodel is finishing up. Our community group met up at Point Isabel where there is a dog park. We fought the wind to eat our brunch and then we fought the wind on a one-hour walk along the Bay. But there were so many cute dogs and it was a beautiful view of the SF skyline.

We ended the month by attending the Open House of the sanitary district headquarters. It was so much more fun than it sounds. 😂 I thought it was just going to be a tour of the new building, but they were amazing hosts! There was a DJ, free lunch was BBQ or tacos/quesadillas, a photo booth, swag, and more. We also got to learn about all the work they do in the community.
