What I’m Reading in June

This book has given me lots to think about. It has a great mix of research, data, personal stories, interviews, and some strategies/advice for growing with our kiddos through the teen, college, and young adult years. There may be a few take or toss things but even if you don’t consider yourself religious, there are some things that may be helpful as youth discover more about themselves and the world.

Today’s teenagers and young adults feel unappreciated, while adults feel like young people are unappreciative. The younger general feels belittled; parents often find their children bewildering…In the midst of these tensions and contradictions we navigate, here is our invitation for all of us parents: let’s be honest with ourselves. Let’s admit that we are not perfect. Let’s accept that we are not meant to be perfect. And enither are our kids. Our hope-filled prayer is that this book helps you avoid the outright lie that it’s too late to adjust your parenting.

I frequently have friends ask me what I’m reading or what I recommend, so hopefully, these posts are helpful in giving you some ideas. If there’s a certain topic you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll see if I can direct you to a book. 🙂

Being a life-long learner and bookwormish means I read some pretty random things sometimes. I mean, if I run out of stuff, I read the backs of cereal boxes or car magazines. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if it is stuff I agree with or not. I really think we can learn something from everything.
