July Reflections

Did July fly by for anyone else? It happened so quickly that I don’t know that I have many thoughts about it besides the fact that I’m thinking of all our friends who have had to make school decisions, both as parents and teachers/administrators. It sounds like a lot of folks are working together to see how friends and communities can make for a smoother transition through virtual and/or distanced check-ins and activities. I think I will have another post with my thoughts on that specific topic but for now, if you don’t follow along on IG or FB, here are some snapshots from our month.

We’ve been reading…more ebooks than physical books but it’s been all good and we’re learning and feeding our imagination. We’re finishing off our doodles and it has been a lot more fun and therapeutic than we thought it would be. It has fueled some unused creativity. We are reflecting on past events that we’ve missed this year but also looking forward to pausing to do things we haven’t “had time” for like yardwork.

We’ve had plenty of online/video connections – even some Zoom graduations, birthday parties, and a memorial service on the other-ish side of the world? We’re still making and reaching goals. We’re reevaluating priorities and how to be better stewards of the world God has given to us along with being better neighbors to the people around us.

There are still lots of hard and challenging and heavy things, bad news each day, people hurting and dying and hating and our soul is burdened. We pray and we press on figure out how to love well in the midst of quarantine and uncertainty. But isn’t there always uncertainty? We never know what the next moment may hold. So we can hold on to hope and that we serve a God of peace.

That’s our July! How was your July? Any highlights?

So some questions I’ve been reflecting on…

  • How can we make the most of our current circumstances that may not be ideal?
  • What do I need to do to shift my original goals so that I can create some building blocks for a successful rest of the year?
  • Where does God want me to be doing His work?

What are some of your reflections on the month of July?

Note: You can find my daily-ish reflections over on IG and FB. Come say hi!
