30 Days to Understanding the Bible, 30th Anniversary

This book has been recommended to me quite a few times and it has been on my to-buy list for a long time. Now that I have my hands on a copy, I know why!! Since this is the 30th Anniversary edition, I’m not sure how it compares to the older version, but I’m sure it is just as great since friends recommended it. Read on to take a look inside the pages.

I’m not sure about you, but “academically,” the Bible is still a bit scary to me. I believe it to be true but there’s so much more to this amazing Book, right? I love learning but I’m not really a great “study”-er, if that makes any sense. Half the time, I can’t remember what I have learned, I can’t really teach the material back to you well, and I’m pretty horrible at tests. I have picked up a few tricks here and there through the years to help me better study the Bible but having another helpful resource is great!

But I think once you see how author Max Anders breaks down the Bible’s structure, it’ll all make more sense. He does it in a way that you can put in about 15 minutes a day for 30 days to get a grasp of the Bible’s key people, events, and doctrines. Being slightly number-dyslexic, I’m also not super great at remembering dates and timelines. Those numbers always get flipped or jumbled inside my brain. Ask my kids about when I help them with math. Don’t ask me how I graduated with a finance degree! But the way Anders gives prompts to review along the way will be beneficial to unjumbling those numbers.

While the book is quite lengthy, as it explains the Bible, which is even lengthier, you see there is a clarity to how it is all laid out. There’s not a lot of fluff, just a straightforward, easy-to-use guide to learning that Bible that’s been recommended by Bible teachers and pastors for 30 years.

  1. I am reading The Geurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Not necessarily recommending it yet…. verdict is still out.

  2. I love to see books like this being shared. A book I would recommend is I’m Proud Of You, it is about Mr. Rogers and his impact on society and one writer. My favorite podcast is Don’t Mom Alone.
