Uncluttered Reflections (week 6)

Hi! I am sharing weekly-ish how things are going in my decluttering journey these next two-ish months as I go through a clutter course. (I’ll share my thoughts after I’m done with the whole course.) Thanks for hanging out and reading my posts. I’d love to know how you’re doing and if you have any tips…about anything really!

Kitchen

It was a break week in our decluttering group and I guess it didn’t help for getting a lot done on my part, especially since it was kitchen week. I overthink in this area because many items we have were given to us for our wedding and were very expensive. I’ve even tried giving stuff away without success. I did do a few things so there were some small wins especially since I could have used the excuse of a break week to say I won’t be working on anything.

[repost from an earlier week] As you can see, it’s not perfect, it’s not all decluttered or even uncluttered, and it’s definitely not clean or organized. Because of my season of life, I don’t really want to spend time cleaning and organizing clutter that may or may not stay in our home AND my time and money are limited so I’m okay with working on small areas for short amounts of time for now. It’s slow progress but it’s progress and I’m happy with forward movement. Some is better than none. 👊

Lessons Learned

This week I learned that for areas like the kitchen I need to block out more time to declutter. Most items we would like to declutter have been put away for so long that they will take longer to deal with than a few minutes which is what my current season of life allows.

I learned that in my head I know it’s unreasonable to keep items I know we will never use, but in my heart, it is hard because I know people spent money on the items. I know that it should not be a factor in moving things along so they can be used by others. I will work on this area some more.

Are you on any decluttering journey? What’s it been like? What are you learning?

If you want to get started, let me help you!
