What I’m Reading in March [Book List]

I frequently have friends ask me what I’m reading or what I recommend, so hopefully, these posts are helpful in giving you some ideas. If there’s a certain topic you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll see if I can direct you to a book. 🙂

UPDATE: Here’s My 2018 Book List >>> joycemoy.com/booklist2018 (monthly lists linked at the bottom of post)

Being a life-long learner and bookwormish means I read some pretty random things sometimes. I mean, if I run out of stuff, I read the backs of cereal boxes or car magazines. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if it is stuff I agree with or not. I really think we can learn something from everything. Soooo…I’m not sure there is ever a theme to each month’s books but…

Here’s my March Book List:

📚 1) *Justin Morgan Had a Horse

We’re trying out a new history curriculum that is a bit more literature-based because apparently, that is how the people around here like to learn. :p Surprise, surprise! We do still LOVE *Evan Moor History Pockets and plan to do more, but wanted to try this out. The History 3 comes with about 30-ish books, and they range from picture books to encyclopedias to longer chapter books. There are some books I have read and others I have not read, so it will be fun to learn together. I had better luck with the poll for this one. There were a dozen votes for Justin Morgan and only one vote for the other book.

📚 2) *The Talent Code

I’m not even sure how I heard about *The Talent Code: Greatness Isn’t Born. It’s Grown. Here’s How. but it seemed like an interesting read to me. I had it on my book list but it wasn’t a priority read. I saw *The Little Book of Talent: 52 Tips for Improving Your Skills available for free on Kindle shortly after (because you know they track all the things in order to “recommend” other things to you :p ), so I read that short book and it was a fascinating read. I especially enjoyed reading about how some soccer players train to build their talent. Anyhow, someone in the local buy/sell group I run was giving away a stack of books for free and The Talent Code was one of them, so I picked it up from her.

📚 3) *Mending Broken Branches

Elizabeth Oates was one of the HelloMornings Bible study writers so that’s the connection. When she shared about her book, I wanted to ignore it because meh, who wants to think about their dysfunctional family tree? But I kept going back to her post and I’m thankful I did because I’m pretty sure I have to give this to my kiddos…their mama is for sure a major work-in-progress!!! Slightly kidding, but not because we all are humans and we all are a beautiful mess. I received this copy in the midst of the crazy sickness and skimmed it through my brain fog, but I love that *Mending Broken Branches: When God Reclaims Your Dysfunctional Family Tree is a mix of stories, Scripture, reflection questions, AND practical steps! Also…ignore my dry skin and the pull-up bar…that’s a weird thing to have in the background. :p hahah
