Lion and tigers and bears, oh my! Hackers and hijackers and “missing out,” oh my! We all have fears. I’m almost positive that even the bravest person has at least one fear. It can be so easy to have an irrational fear of something because what we see all around is news of attacks and food recalls and all kinds of things that we have no control over. But we serve a God who is bigger than all those things. We learned that “God is bigger than the bogeyman,” remember? :p (If you haven’t watched Veggietales, you’re missing out.)
My fears tells me AHHHH, but the Gospel tells me I can rest. Jesus doesn’t offer us a life with nothing to be afraid of. He offers us Himself.

I think we all have things we are afraid of whether we admit it or not. I mean, have you watched The Birds? And I don’t need clowns in my life, thanks. But kidding aside, there are real and scary things out there. The news tells us so, right? My guess is that there are a whole lot of real and wonderful things out there too! But good things and good people don’t always make the news.
Even if our fears are rational, author Scarlet Hiltibidal gives us great reminders of how we can find our brave and our peace in our Lord when we seek Him. When we allow the gospel to shine the light in the dark and broken things of the world, we can overcome our fears. Scarlet shares her stories and how God showed up so many times in her life to rescue her from her fears.
She realized that though she can’t fix herself or protect herself, Jesus walked into the broken, sad, scary place to rescue, love, and cast out her – and her your – fear.
