Open-Door Living

Does opening the doors to your house cause you anxiety? If I’m honest, there still are days when this is true. And I think a lot of stems from the message that things have to be a certain way. Another is actual comments I have heard from guests. I love that Jen Schmidt discusses the topic of hospitality vs. entertaining in her book Just Open the Door. This new book is a perfect addition to the collection that encourages us to love those around us well just by being ourselves.

When we create a home where open-door living is a response to who Christ is in our lives, then the love we demonstrate to our guests is a natural overflow of His presence in our own life.

While the photos in the book still display some hint of preparation, I love the practical ideas that are shared throughout the book!! There are checklists to help with prep, recipes to make, and encouragement to prompt us to open our doors.

Hospitality, unlike entertaining, treats everyone as aguest of honor rather than grasping at honor for yourself.
